Our Visit

On a bright and sunny morning this winter season, we set out to explore the Panorama Nature Trail. With the clock just striking 9:30 am, the weather was a pleasant mid-60s, perfect for a hike. The sun was out, but we were grateful for the shade provided by the lush trees along the trail.

The Panorama Nature Trail is a gem nestled in the heart of Fullerton, starting at the top of The Summit House Restaurant. We found ample parking in the restaurant’s lot, making it a convenient spot to begin our adventure. The trail is a delightful mix of nature and neighborhood, offering scenic views and a glimpse of the grand homes in the vicinity.

Our little family, including our 16 lb, 1-year-old pup, took on the challenge with enthusiasm. The trail is described as a moderate 3-mile loop, and while some might consider it a leisurely stroll, others could find it quite the workout. With a mix of uphill and downhill sections, there were moments that got our hearts racing and our legs working.

Final Thoughts

Overall, the Panorama Nature Trail was a pleasant surprise. While it wasn’t my absolute favorite hike, its proximity—just 10 minutes from our home—made it a convenient and enjoyable outing. I particularly enjoyed the mix of trail and neighborhood, which offered a unique experience compared to other hikes.

The kids had a mixed reaction; they found the trail rocky but manageable. Jason, on the other hand, appreciated the first and last thirds of the trail, though he found the middle section to be a bit too rocky for his liking. He did enjoy the sight of the beautiful homes in the neighborhood, which added an extra layer of interest to our hike.

While the trail had its rocky moments, the overall experience was positive. It’s a good option for a quick and convenient outdoor activity, especially for those living nearby. We’ll likely return for another visit, perhaps with some adjustments to make it even more enjoyable for our furry friend.

If you’re looking for a moderate hike with a mix of nature and suburban charm, the Panorama Nature Trail is worth a try. Just be prepared for a few rocky sections and some uphill climbs that will keep you on your toes. Happy hiking!
